New orders for U.S.-manufactured goods in June 2023, up six of the last seven months, increased $13.4 billion, or 2.3% to $592.0 billion. This followed a 0.4% May increase, the U.S. Census Bureau reported.
Shipments, up two consecutive months, increased $0.7 billion, or 0.1% to $573.9 billion. This followed a 0.4% May increase.
Unfilled orders, up six of the last seven months, increased $23.1 billion, or 1.8% to $1,325.1 billion. This followed a 0.8% May increase. The unfilled orders-to-shipments ratio was 6.74, up from 6.64 in May.
Inventories, down four of the last five months, decreased $0.3 billion or virtually unchanged to $853.1 billion. This followed a 0.2% May decrease. The inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.49, unchanged from May.
