The global pulp industry event held in Shanghai started in the year of 2007. With the strong growth in pulp demand in China and Asia, Shanghai has become a major global exchange and event center for the pulp industry. In 2015, there were big improvements in the organization form, meeting content and participation scope. Various activities like Annual Meeting, Gala Dinner, Theme Cocktail Party, Panels, Luncheon, Symposium and Press Conference attracted global enterprises to take active participation and the time was fixed to be the third week of every March. Shanghai Pulp Week has become an international industry event with the largest scale, the largest number of participants and the highest level of participants in the global pulp and paper industry since then.
China & Global Pulp Market
China is the largest pulp and paper producer and pulp importer in the world. In 2023, 37 million tons of commercial pulp was imported to China, with a year-on-year growth of 25%, accounting for one-third of the global market, and it maintains an annual growth rate of 3%. Following the ban on all imports of solid waste, the growth rate of China's demand for imported pulp has further accelerated. It is the only pulp market in the world that has sustained demand growth, and it is also the consumer market that global pulp suppliers attach the most importance.
